What is "The Digitized Conductor"?

Back in the early 1990's when CP Rail took over the D&H, we were told it was going to become a "paperless railroad". Wow... were they wrong!

Today the railroad has paper, paper and more paper. So much so that special rooms had to be built to house all the boxes of paper that the operation consumes... most of which ends up in the dumpster.

Copy machines (many over $7,500) sit dead in hallways being replaced by new multi-thousand dollar machines destined to end up in a hallway after pumping out tons of paper that will end up in the dumpster.

All this for some basic BUT important data. And this data is typed and re-typed over and over and over again.

ModernRailroading.com has a vision of how this "paperless railroad" can become a reality. A vision that keeps the railroad's Mainframe safe from outside attacks while allowing employees to receive all their necessary paperwork onto a weather and railroad-tough handheld or laptop.

We are an alliance of veteran railroaders, who know how the operation works and its needs, all with unique computer skills to turn this vision into a reality. This "Digital Library" is just one example of how to achieve a more modern railroad.
